Iä! Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn!
Merrick Attus is an author and . I hope this season finds whoever passes into my blog well. I fell madly in love with Lovecraft’s works what feels like an age ago. Today, his (and the subsequent Mythos) has expanded so much and has had such a deep impact on popular culture, but I find not as many people are actively reading these incredible works–especially not the expanded Mythos. That, to me, is a shame.
Merrick Attus is a cosmic and folk-horror author and historian based in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. A dedicated Lovecraft scholar, his fiction is featured in the April 2026 issue of Flash Phantoms and the Halloween 2026 Anthology with Nat1 Publishing. When he isn’t exploring the piney shadows of his home turf, he is likely polishing his debut thriller or playing with his daughter. He believes true horror begins when the heart starts racing.
My reasons for this blog are the following:
- Read through, analyze and comment on each of the works, helping to weave together any pieces of the Mythos that are meant for one another.
- I have a dedicated Podcast in which I narrate original works of horror.
- As a Keeper of Call of Cthulhu RPG, I want to speak to the references from modules, as well as help guide players to the Mythos so that they can enjoy Lovecraft, et al.
- I want to build a community around the Cthulhu Mythos, one that harbors creativity and friendship. Call of Cthulhu RPG is not as widely known as D&D, and while I love both, we need to do a better job as a community of sharing the magnificence for the first.
